DPWH, JICA Takes Steps on New Technical Cooperation Project for 2 Major River Basins in Luzon

Officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has agreed to develop a detailed plan for the Project Enhancement of the Flood Control Strategy in the Pasig-Marikina River and Cagayan River Basins, two (2) of the major river basins in Luzon identified as top priorities for Japan-funded technical cooperation program.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the rehabilitation and strengthening of Rosario Bridge 2, which now ensures the safety of motorists traversing Bambang-Kasibu-Solano Road in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary Eugenio R. Pipo, Jr., DPWH Nueva Vizcaya First District Engineer Marifel T. Andes reported the completion of repair works and re-opening to vehicular traffic of the 46-linear meter Rosario Bridge 2 in Barangay Mabuslo.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a new concrete road project benefitting coconut farmers in Lemery, Batangas.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Batangas First District Engineer Bencio A. Aguzar said that the recently completed 505-meter long farm-to-market road (FMR) project in Barangay San Isidro Ibaba provides a wide and accessible barangay road for easy transport of goods, especially coconut, from the source to the market.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a revetment structure to prevent the overflow of Alamínos River in Barangay Pogo, Alaminos City, Pangasinan.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Bonoan and Undersecretary Eugenio R. Pipo Jr., DPWH Region I Director Ronnel Tan said that the project provides the farming communities with a resilient barrier against the river's surges, effectively mitigating the risk of flood during prolonged rainstorms and intense typhoons.

P57.9-M Improvement Works along Taal Circumferential Road Completed

In an effort to provide safer access for locals and tourists, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the improvement of another 226-meter portion of the Taal Lake Circumferential Road in Balete, Batangas.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 4A Director Jovel G. Mendoza said that the multi-year road improvement of Taal Lake Circumferential Road has received an allocation of P58 million from the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) to cover slope protection along section in Barangay Looc.
