Eco-tourism sites in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat are now more accessible with the completion of a 3.5-kilometer diversion road project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Director Basir M. Ibrahim of the DPWH Region 12 said the newly constructed road directly connects Baras Bird Sanctuary, Monte Vicenteau and Decela Eco-Park of Tacurong City to the municapilty of Norala in South Cotabato.

“With this shorter route to and from Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato, tourists coming  from the more famous Lake Sebu in South Cotabato will be encouraged to explore the eco-tourism sites in Sultan Kudarat,” said Director Ibrahim.

“This diversion road will definitely help boost the tourism in Central Mindanao in the most convenient way. Instead of taking time to travel via the conventional roads, the diversion road will lessen travel time of visitors,” added Director Ibrahim.

The new road which is funded by the Department of Tourism under the DOT-DPWH Convergence Program will also facilitate faster delivery of goods specifically agricultural products from the remotest barrios to the market conveniently.
