Secretary Mercado Administers Oath for Newly-Appointed DPWH Officials

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Roger G. Mercado officiated on December 27, 2021 the oath taking ceremony of two (2) DPWH officials whose appointment papers were recently approved by the Office of the President.

Sworn to their new position are Undersecretary Emerson L. Benitez and Assistant Secretary Eric A. Ayapana.

Assistant Secretary Ayapana, who served as Director of the Bureau of Construction and DPWH National Capital Region, was joined in the oathtaking by his wife Marites.

DPWH Works for The Protection of Southernmost Towns of Pampanga from Flooding

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is fast tracking the delivery of projects that will mitigate flooding in the southernmost part of the Province of Pampanga.

DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that the Department has been working to help improve resilience to flood events with extreme weather phenomenon being increasingly felt nowadays due to climate change.

DPWH: 44 Roads Reopened; 3 Roads Still Impassable Due to Typhoon Odette

As of 12:00 noon Friday, December 24, 2021, only three (3) national roads remain closed as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Quick Response Teams continue to conduct clearing operations of roads affected by Typhoon Odette.

DPWH Secretary Roger "Oging" Mercado said that 44 roads were already cleared and reopened, however, one (1) road in Palawan and two (2) roads in Cebu are still impassable to all types of vehicles due to damaged bridge, fallen trees and electric posts, debris, and washout revetment.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is still clearing a total of 11 impassable roads in five (5) regions affected by Typhoon Odette.

Based on the 12:00 noon Sunday, December 19, 2021 report of the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, the Puerto Princesa North Road, specifically at Langogan Bridge and and another section in Barangay Langogan, Puerto Princesa City is impassable due to damaged old bridge and landslide.

The Jct (LIR) Buenavista- Carmen-Danao-Jetafe Rd in Carmen, Bohol; Tagbilaran East Road in Poblacion, Alicia, Bohol are also closed due to fallen trees.
