Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said a new Bohol Capitol Building has been recently completed to replace the condemned old Capitol Building that was damaged by the devastating 2013 Bohol quake.
“We are glad to announce that a bigger and quake-resilient 4-storey provincial building can now be utilized by Bohol local government officials and staff in delivering public service to Boholanons,” said Secretary Villar.
Secretary Villar said the New Bohol Capitol Building constructed by DPWH Region VII within a 23,139-square meter government lot at Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City is made to be larger and more comfortable than the old Capitol Building.
DPWH Region VII Director Edgar Tabacon reported that the new Capitol Building has 48 office spaces, a session hall, ceremonial hall, viewing hall, fine dining room, conference room, archives, roof deck, 42 car slot and 75-motorcycle slot parking areas, two (2) 800-kg passenger elevators and one (1) 1600-kg service elevator, air conditioning units, fire sprinkler system, fire alarm system, smoke detectors, speakers, as well as CCTV cameras.
Its roof level can also serve as a view deck for a panoramic view of Tagbilaran City and Maribojoc Bay.
The replacement of Bohol Capitol Building was implemented within 840 calendar days starting from January 10, 2016 to February 8, 2019 in the amount of P664.66 million.
