The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) commenced construction works for the 40.24 million three-storey building of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) located at the Regional Government Center in Rawis, Legazpi City.

The 3,020 square meter building is anticipated to aid DTI Region 5 in providing its constituents more income opportunities that will fulfill their goal in fostering a globally competitive and innovative economic industry.

Echoing its foreseen impact, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar stressed the role that public infrastructure plays in effectively delivering government agencies’ mandate.

“The construction of DTI’s regional office is one step forward towards the holistic growth and improvement of trade and industry in the country. With government offices becoming more accessible, the public can now avail the services they offer,” Secretary Villar said.

Aside from the improvement in delivery of service, better coordination and stronger connectivity between DPWH and DTI is expected, as they implement the Roads Leveraging Linkages Industry and Trade (ROLL IT), their joint project which primarily aims to promote economic growth through infrastructure development.

The building project is funded under the 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA) and is expected to be completed in May 2020.
