The Department of Public and Highways (DPWH) in Region V has started the construction of the new building for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at the Regional Government Center in Rawis, Legazpi City.
In the groundbreaking ceremony held last July 26, 2019, DPWH RD Virgilio C. Eduarte said that the amount of the project is P48.249 million for a 3-storey building with a total area of 3,020 square meters.
This was sourced from the General Appropriation Act (GAA) 2019. The event was graced by DTI Assistant Secretary Demphna Du-Naga and her staff.
“DTI and DPWH are undertaking the Roads Leveraging Linkages of Industry and Trade or the ROLL IT program and having their Regional Office nearby will make coordination better and connectivity stronger,” RD Eduarte said.
It will be recalled that said program was formalized by the two agencies through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing on November 29, 2016.
This program is a working arrangement by DTI and DPWH jointly undertaken the planning, budgeting, advocacy for legislation, identification, evaluation, prioritization, regulation, supervision, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of industry-developing infrastructure projects in priority economic and manufacturing zones in the Philippines.
These projects are perceived to accelerate growth and development of trade and industry particularly in remote areas.
