Tourists can now conveniently explore the Province of Abra as Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar announced the recent completion of an access road leading to the famous Kaparkan Falls in the Municipality of Tineg.
“The construction of the 11-kilometer Alimusgan-Bai-Caganayan Access Road is among the priority projects of DPWH Abra District Engineering Office to ensure safe and pleasant experience for visitors of the high terraced falls in Barangay Caganayan,” announced Secretary Villar.
In his report to Secretary Villar, DPWH Cordillera Administrative Region Director Tiburcio Canlas mentioned that multi-year improvement of the access road leading to the tourist destination commenced in 2018 and is so far implemented in three (3) phases.
The Phase 1 of the project involved roadway excavation and concrete paving, amounting to P27.78-million while P14-million was allocated for Phase 2 which involves road paving, stone masonry, and installation of guardrails. DPWH has so far paved a total of 2.15 kilometers of the road from 2018 to 2019.
Slope protection structures and concrete paving of additional 2.50-kilometers will continue this year 2020, with a total budget of P41-million under the 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
“More than the boost in tourism, the construction of the Alimusgan-Bai-Caganayan Access Road aims to improve mobility and transfer of goods and services in the agricultural municipality of Tineg, Abra,” said Secretary Villar.
