Pursuant to its mission of providing quality infrastructure facilities responsive to the needs of the Filipino people, Department of Public Works and Highways recently inaugurated a newly rehabilitated bridge located along Manila North Road in Barangay Namuac, Sanchez Mira, Cagayan. DPWH Region 2 Director Melvin Navarro led the opening of the new Namuac Bridge, together with Cagayan Second District Representative Baby Aline Vargas-Alfonso and other Sanchez Mira municipality officials. According to Navarro, the newly replaced Namuac Bridge, which is the first completed major bridge project implemented by DPWH Regional Office 2 for 2014, has two (2) lanes, three-spans, and 109.5 lineal meters in length. Since it is located along Manila North Road, the replacement of old Namuac Bridge is expected to facilitate the development of Cagayan Valley region and other neighboring areas. “The newly constructed infrastructure will greatly improve accessibility and mobility in the vicinity by providing an enhanced transport facility in the Manila North Road which is the gateway to Region 1”, said Navarro. “It will likewise play a major support in the interplay of agricultural, industrial and tourism growth and exchanges between the provinces in Cagayan Valley and Ilocos Region,” added Navarro.
