Regional Director Antonio Molano Jr promised to keep track of road projects in Angeles City after meeting with the city mayor and council.
Molano faced Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and local officials after their protests over slow-paced completion of DPWH projects such as the upgrading of Pandan-Magalang Road costing P60-million, P41.5-million Construction of Mcarthur Highway in Balibago commercial district, road widening projects on Friendship road and Don Bonifacio Road costing P100-million and P19-million respectively and the construction of foot bridges in front of Chevalier School and Systems Plus School for P22-million.
In the meeting, the occurring problems were raised and presented to director Molano after which the causes were identified.
Molano then addressed the said concerns including the alleged “erring” of favored contractors on huge construction projects.
Molano and Pamintuan set an ultimatum for all the Angeles City Projects contractors to finish the road constructions ahead of time and avoid all quandaries that slow down the construction progress.
Molano admitted that the DPWH national office is aware of the downsides of slow construction to the city’s commerce, motorists and residents.
“The local government of Angeles City and the DPWH will have continuous dialogues to ensure the fast accomplishment by the contractors,” the Regional Director said.
Director Molano added that DPWH will continue to settle issues concerning Road Right of Way (RROW) acquisition in partnership with the City Government; and remove road obstructions such as uncut trees and electric posts along the way in proper coordination with the LGU, Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the electric service provider,
