The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is presently undertaking the upgrading of the 1.5-kilometer damaged pavement along Sarangani-Davao del Sur Coastal Road in Malapatan, Sarangani.

The project, which was started in June 2019 and targeted to be completed by March 2020, involves the rehabilitation and repair of inner lanes of the coastal road that connects the town of Malapatan to other municipalities, cities, and provinces.

DPWH Sarangani District Engineering Office (DEO) District Engineer Jonathan G. Bantug said that aside from reducing travel time and providing convenience to commuters, the road improvement will also boost tourism and socioeconomic development in the community.

The road upgrading along Malapatan’s section of the Sarangani-Davao del Sur Coastal Road is already 95 percent completed.

The P23.48-million project is funded under the General Appropriation Act (GAA) of 2019.
