A farm-to-market road (FMR) recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is an answered dream to farmers in Cantilan, Surigao Del Sur.

The 2.27 kilometer FMR traversing vast rice fields along Barangays Tigabong and Magasang now provides easier transport of goods at a lesser cost.

“The government is investing heavily in infrastructure to achieve high economic growth. This includes the improvement of farm-to-market roads in the rural areas to support agriculture”, said DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar.

The farmers of Surigao Del Sur now enjoy an all-weather road and palay buyers are interested to come directly to them.

The FMR project completed in June was implemented by Surigao Del Sur 1st District Engineering Office with a total cost of P29.5 million.
