
Clearing operations are still on-going in eight (8) road sections in Regions 1, 2, 3, 8 and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) that were closed to vehicular traffic due to landslides, washed out detour road and flood waters left by recent typhoon “Luis”.
Monitoring of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bureau of Maintenance indicates that as of 12 noon today, September 18, 2014, deployed DPWH manpower and equipment are doubling efforts to clear landslides and re-open to vehicular traffic the Mt. Province-Ilocos Sur Road via Tue (K0393+800, K0392+055, K0390+380, K0389+380, K0388+900) in Mountain Province and similar recent occurrence at Matagob-Libongao-Palompon Road in Leyte.
At least four (4) road sections are impassable to vehicles due to floodwaters that includes the detour road at Baligued Bridge (K0198+269) and Sapang Bridge I (K0199+343) along Camiling-Wawa-Bayambang-Malasiqui-Sta. Barbara Road in Pangasinan, Cabagan Sta. Maria overflow bridge (K0451+462) in Isabela Province, and Ormoc-Merida Road and Dagami-Burauen Road both in Leyte Province.
The Nueva Ecija – Pangasinan Road specifically at KM173+500 in Brgy. Sabit, Cuyapo and Barangay Mapangpang, Lupao in the Province of Nueva Ecija is impassable due to washed out detour road while Shilan Beckel Road (K0263+200) in the Province of Benguet is closed due to an on-going widening works.
Estimated cost of damage by the Bureau of Maintenance is at P4.48 million.
