Public Works Secretary has recently visited Region IX to see for himself on the ground the actual accomplishment in the implementation of the Zamboanga City By-Pass Road project.
The Secretary said that the road network is a priority project of the Department since this will greatly help decongest traffic within the city proper as this will serve as an alternate route for motorists and vehicles travelling east to west or vice versa
Regional Director Jorge Sebastian who was with the Secretary in the ground inspection said that to date, the five (5) contract projects along Zamboanga City By-Pass Road has an accomplishment of 56.70% and they are taking advantage of the good weather condition to fast track the construction of the project.
Meanwhile, the Secretary who is the Chairman of the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (ZC3R) project also met with officials of different national government agencies, and local government units in the region to discuss the status of the project.
He urged the concerned officials to fast track the government’s rehabilitation effort and to strictly follow the plans and specifications in the implementation of the project.
The Secretary also acknowledged the various challenges besetting the implementation of the ZC3R but he was optimistic that with the national governments’ all out support, the project will be completed on its target completion date.
