Friday, July 23, 2021

As of 6:00 am Friday, July 23, 2021, one (1) national road section in Benguet and one (1) in Abra remain closed to traffic due to Southwest Monsoon rains causing soil and rock collapse.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar identified affected section in Benguet as a portion of Marcos Highway at K0272+950 - K0272+980 in Taloy Sur, Tuba town which is impassable due to soil collapse. A DPWH Quick Response Team (QRT) have been dispatched in the area and clearing operation is ongoing.

In the meantime, motorists may take Asin - Nangalisan - San Pascual Road Baguio - Bauang Road as an alternative road.

The Abra - Kalinga Road, K0489+900, Gacab, Malibcong in Abra is still closed due to soil and rock collapse. Temporarily, may take Abra - Ilocos Sur Road - McArthur Highway - Maharlika Highway.

Clearing operation was hampered due to adverse weather condition and unstable slope condition. It will resume once deemed safe for the DPWH QRT.

All other national roads and bridges in other regions are passable to all types of vehicles as of date.
