Road project to serve agribusinesses

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 5 continuously performs its mandate to provide quality infrastructure projects which will be beneficial not only to the travelling public but to the residents in the area as well.

The construction of the Sitio Danlagan Road connecting to Banquerohan Septage and Sewage Treatment Facility in support of Handloom Weaving Industry and various Agribusiness Industries in Banquerohan Legazpi City, Albay is one of the projects implemented by Albay 2nd District Engineering Office with the goal to offer more prospects for development within the community.

It will be recalled that the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and DPWH launched a ROLL IT Program better known as the Roads Leveraging and Linkages of Industry and Trade sometime in 2016. A convergence of two (2) agencies targeting the construction of more road projects in priority economic and manufacturing zones in the country to fuel the growth of its domestic and foreign investments.

“This Sitio Danlagan Road is one of our projects to address the ROLL IT priority,” said Albay 2nd DEO District Engineer Warren B. Azotea in one of DPWH Region 5 Meetings. According to him, the completion of this project will result to fast and easy transport of products of Handloom weavers and growth of various agribusiness industry in the area.

“As agribusiness industry improves, work opportunities and other industrial benefits to the community including its surrounding areas also bloom,” DPWH Region 5 Regional Director Virgilio C. Eduarte also added. According to him, this ROLL IT initiative has helped ease unemployment in the locality brought about by the present pandemic situation.
