
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed the concreting of a road that will improve economic activities in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
Spanning 6.56 lane kilometers, Hinatuan Road traverses the barangays of Bitoon, Maharlika, Lacasa, Sasa, and Canabon towards the junction national highway.
“The newly-concreted Hinatuan Road will trigger various opportunities for other lucrative investments on rich raw materials endemic in the area”, said Secretary Mark Villar.
Hinatuanons have expressed gratitude for the road project which is also expected to see a significant reduction in the transportation cost of agricultural products.
Hinatuan is the home of the famous Enchanted River, a scenic bright blue spring river frequented by tourists from all over the country.
With a total cost of P93.3 million, the road project was undertaken by DPWH Surigao del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office in three project contracts beginning February 2020 and completed on July 2021.
