23 Typhoon-Affected Road Now Open

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was able to clear and reopen 23 national road sections while 10 remain impassable due to Tropical Storm ‘Maring’ and Tropical Depression ‘Nando’.

As of 12:00 noon Thursday, October 14, 2021, the six (6) still closed are in Cordillera Administrative Region, one (1) in Region I, two (2) in Region II and one (1) in Region VII due to soil collapse, debris flow, landslide, damaged bridge, and flooding.

Closed to all types of vehicles are: the Abra-Ilocos Norte Road, at K0446+630, K0447+300, K0449+400, and K0449+700 sections in Nagaparan, Danglas, Abra; Abra-Cervantes Road at Biweng Bridge at K0470+100 San Ramon, Manabo and at K0459+700 in Subusob, Sallapadan, Abra; Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road at K0657+400-K0657+450 in Butao and K0647+300, Namaltugan Section, Namaltugan in Calanasan, Apayao; Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road at K0322+950, Palina, Kibungan, Benguet; Cong. Andres Acop Cosalan Road at K0343+500, Amlimay Buguias, Benguet; and the Lubuagan-Batong Buhay-Abra Boundary Road, K0461+600- K0461+670 in Puapo, Dangtalan, Pasil, Kalinga.

Other affected sections in other regions are: Manila North Road Bayugao Bridge, Sta Cruz, Ilocos Sur; Cagayan Apayao Road, Itawes Bridge, K519+(-1044), Tuao, Cagayan; Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge, Cabagan Sta. Maria, Isabela; and Cebu-Toledo Wharf Road, K0023+700, Brgy. Manipis, Talisay City, Cebu.

The Batangas-Tabangao-Lobo Road, Sta.138+150 to 145+400 also remain impassable to heavy vehicles due to damaged seawall and road slip.

To date, damage to infra from Maring and Nando has reached P575.07 Million which is composed of P486.76 Million damage to roads and bridges in CAR, P45 Million damage in Region 1 and P43.31 Million in Region 2.
