The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will start the replacement works on damaged old drainage structure along a portion of Roxas Boulevard in front of Libertad Pumping Station in Pasay City.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Roger "Oging" Mercado, DPWH National Capital Region Director Nomer Abel P. Canlas and South Manila District Engineer Mikunug D. Macud, said that the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has given clearance to undertake repair of 54.9 linear meters of damaged Libertad Drainage Main Box Culvert beginning evening of Friday, December 3, 2021.
The construction of drainage main will require initial road closure along the south bound portion of Roxas Boulevard from V. Sotto to Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) approaching Buendia Flyover.
This temporary closure will allow DPWH to construct an efficient drainage system leading to Libertad Pumping Station, preventing flooding in surrounding areas.
As an alternative, all light vehicles are advised to take Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard going to MIA while heavy vehicles including trucks may turn left to P. Burgos Avenue, along Finance Road and Ayala Boulevard, then right turn to San Marcelino Street, P. Quirino Avenue going to South Super Highway.
DPWH has installed necessary warning signs to notify the public about the road closures.
