The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the improvement of an access road leading to Cankoka Hills in Candijay, Bohol.

Secretary Roger G. Mercado , citing a report from DPWH Region 7 Director Edgar B. Tabacon, mentioned that Candijaynons now experience a smooth and speedy transport of goods and services, particularly in Barangay Abihilan.

Besides promoting connectivity in the scenic province, the newly-paved road also provides a safer and more convenient travel to Cankoka Hills, where locals and tourists can relax and enjoy a panoramic view of Bohol’s highlands.

Home to attractions such as the Canawa Cold Spring, Can-umantad Falls, and Kawasihan Sand Bar, the municipality of Candijay is fast becoming popular as a tourist destination.

“Providing access roads to more far-flung tourist sites can ensure developmental opportunities which can help our economy recover from the pandemic,” said Secretary Mercado.

Costing P19.2 million, the project involves 1,194 meters of concrete pavement with provision of road slip and slope protection. Canal lining and reinforced concrete pipe culverts were also installed at certain sections.
