A farm-to-market road (FMR) recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now benefits mango farmers in the municipality of Carmen, Agusan del Norte.
“The completion of the new FMR in Barangay Poblacion to Sitio Sisiman, Carmen is an answered prayer for local farmers in the area as they need not walk from the upland to bring their products to nearby markets”, said DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado.
The town of Carmen is known for its saccharine mango products most sought by both locals and tourists in Agusan del Norte.
In his report to Secretary Mercado, DPWH Region 13 Director Pol Delos Santos stated that the 571-linear meter FMR now hastens transport of goods which in turn will raise the profits of local farmers and spur economic development in the province.
Implemented by DPWH Agusan del Norte District Engineering Office, Barangay Poblacion to Sitio Sisiman FMR was completed in the amount of P11.9 million.
