The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is constructing two (2) infrastructure projects for the residents of Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.
According to DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado , one (1) of the ongoing projects is the Bislig City Coastal Protection which will ensure that the populated area in the coastal part of the city is safe from calamities.
The project covers construction of 480-meter road embankment encompassing the residential district of Mangagoy; bridge construction; bank and slope protection; and drainage component.
Meanwhile, the other project involves the 889.172-meter Kahayag-Coleto Road. When completed, it will improve mobility and lessen transportation costs of basic commodities.
The road project also features a slope protection structure, guard rails, and crossing reinforced concrete pipe culvert (RCPC) as drainage.
“We are fast-tracking these projects so that the people can benefit from them the soonest. Once completed, we can expect a more secure bay area, better road network and an improved way of life, which is the ultimate goal of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” Secretary Mercado said.
The projects are being implemented by DPWH Surigao del Sur 2nd District Engineering Office.
