The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a new road widening project aimed at decongesting traffic condition in San Carlos City, Pangasinan.

Citing a report from DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that the widening from two (2) lanes to four (4) lanes of the Carmen Junction Bayambang – Manat Road is expected to increase road capacity and accommodate the current traffic volume in the city.

The widening project covers a total length of 4.4 kilometers of road. Scopes of work include construction of a new concrete pavement with 0.28-meter thickness, installation of pedestrian railings, and drainage works with a total funding of 22.5-million under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

Implemented by DPWH Pangasinan Fourth District Engineering Office (DEO), the widened Carmen Junction Bayambang – Manat Road is set to aid faster transport of farm products and spur local economic development.
