DPWH Constructs 7-Storey Office Building for DBM-CAR

A seven-storey building is set to rise in Cabinet Hill in Baguio City, Benguet to house the operations of the Department of Budget and Management - Cordillera Administrative Region (DBM-CAR).

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that the planned 323.11-square-meter office building is the first one the DBM-CAR will own years after its establishment in the country’s mountainous region up north.

DPWH-CAR Regional Director Khadaffy D. Tanggol reported to DPWH Secretary Mercado that the project, which comprises two (2) phases, has already been in the works since it broke ground in December of 2021.

According to Regional Director Tanggol, the first phase of the project focuses on the basic components of the building structure which includes the foundation, columns, beams, floors, walls, stairs, and roof.

The DPWH-CAR is targeting to complete the first half of the project by December this year and will be continued to its second and last stage of construction that will cover all the finishing works including the installation of solar panels, generator set, sewage treatment plant, and site development.

DPWH Secretary Mercado and Regional Director Tanggol expressed their eagerness to swiftly complete the project to benefit both the DBM-CAR employees and the public the budget department serves.

When completed, the new building will consist of offices for employees, conference rooms, parking spaces and will be equipped with child care and play yard area, clinic, common comfort room area, pantry for employees, and a multi-purpose hall to maximize convenience for its soon to be occupants.
