The Department of Public Works and Highways paves new road, connecting the coastal municipalities of San Francisco and San Andres in the province of Quezon.

Citing a report to DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado, Quezon 3rd District Engineer Jorge C. Pasia said that the 1.84-kilometer road project was constructed as a new direct link between the two (2) municipalities in Bondoc Peninsula, starting from Barangay Nasalaan and ending at the existing road pavement near Pagsangahan Road.

“Faster and convenient movement of people, goods and services are now being observed in the area, especially the ease on the transportation of local products such as coconut, rice and fish,” DE Pasia added.

Farming and fishing are the main sources of livelihood in San Francisco and San Andres. Aside from that, the number of tourists flocking the pristine beaches and waterfalls are growing, generating additional livelihood opportunities for the community.

“Improving road network connects people and towns in far areas and assists in further boosting local trade and tourism activities. We take our commitment to heart on the improvement of lives of every Filipino, especially our resilient farmers and fishermen,” said Secretary Mercado.

The paved road also includes slope protection and additional aggregate shoulders for better stability.

Funded under 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA) in the amount of ₱71.65 million, the completion of missing link road was implemented by DPWH Quezon 3rd District Engineering Office.
