The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the replacement of Pagbahan Bridge along Mindoro West Coastal Road in the municipality of Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro.

Based on a report submitted by Region 4-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan, Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that the bridge was reconstructed to facilitate travel even during sudden increase of flood water caused by heavy rains.

With the use of P24 million from the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA), scopes of work for the project cover the construction of a new 25-meter long bridge, with 3.5-meter wide carriageway, pavement thickness of 0.28 millimeters, a slope protection structure, and stone masonry.

“Locals and travelers are now reaping the benefits of a better bridge linking communities, providing a safer road network, and enhancing transport system to further support economic development in the province. This project helps boost tourism, increase socio-economic activities, prevent damage to road network and protect both pedestrians and motorists from effects of flooding,” said Secretary Mercado.
