Improved travel time to and from the city proper awaits residents of a barangay in Zamboanga City with the newly-completed road concreting project of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
In her report to DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado, DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia said that the 582-meter road in Barangay Bolong will promote safer mobility in the city.
“With improved connectivity, travel time to and from the metro will be reduced by ten (10) minutes, promoting daily economic activities for the 8,068 residents of Barangay Bolong,” said Director Dia.
Funded with P10 million under the General Appropriations Act of 2021, the project also involves improvement of the line canal and drainage system.
Secretary Mercado, on his part, commended DPWH Zamboanga City District Engineering Office (DEO) for the on-time completion of the project despite the restrictions brought by pandemic.
