The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has constructed a new revetment structure intended to protect residents and their farm lands from river overflow in the Municipality of Dingras, Ilocos Norte.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manual M. Bonoan, DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan said that a total of P9.4-million was allocated under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA) for the construction of the new structure in Barangay Lumbad.

“With the completion of this flood control structure, we are hoping to mitigate damage not just to infrastructure and agriculture but more importantly protect the lives of the residents,” reported Director Tan.

The 121-meter protective structure will also prevent erosion of the riverbank and protect residents of Barangays Guerrero and Dancel from inundation.
