More tourists are expected to visit the white sand of Kigay Sandbar Beach in the Municipality of Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay with the improvement of the tourism road by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The access road leading to Kigay Sandbar Beach Falls is one of the convergence projects under the Tourism Roads Infrastructure Program (TRIP) of DPWH and the Department of Tourism (DOT).

According to DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia, the construction of the 930-meter road is seen to provide better access for tourists visiting the pristine beaches of Barangay Kigay.

“Aside from the promotion of the emerging tourist spot, the road improvement is also set to bolster additional livelihood sources and improve mobility of goods and services to the area,” said Director Dia.

Constructed in the total amount of P7.2-million under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the project involved road concreting and slope protection works implemented by DPWH Zamboanga Sibugay First District Engineering Office (DEO).
