Coconut and banana farmers in Barangay Don Martin Marundan, Mati City, Davao Oriental now benefit from the recently-completed farm-to-market road (FMR) project constructed under the convergence program of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Agriculture (DA).
DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Rey Peter B. Gille, citing a report from DPWH Davao Oriental 2nd District Engineering Office, said that project which was completed during the last quarter of 2021 is a concrete road that facilitates better access to the farm lands.
“In the amount of P12.9 million, we have constructed a two-lane paved road stretching 749 meters for the benefit of our coconut and banana farmers in the area who have long endured the difficulty of having their produce reach the market due to poor condition of roads,” said Director Gille.
Started in June 2021, the construction of Barangay Don Martin Marundan was carried out for almost four (4) months until its completion in October 2021.
