CAR Road Closures Reported Due to ‘Gardo’ and ‘Henry’

Friday, September 2, 2022

Two (2) roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region are currently closed due to the threat of landslides and slope collapse caused by Tropical Depression Gardo and Super typhoon Henry.

As of 12:00 noon Friday, September 2, 2022, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bureau of Maintenance reported the closure of landslide-prone Kennon Road for safety reasons.

While Kennon Road remains closed, motorists heading to Baguio City may take Marcos Highway, Baguio - Bauang Road, or Asin - Nangalisan - San Pascual Road as alternate routes.

The Apayao - Ilocos Norte Road, K0623+600 section in Madatag, Kabugao, Apayao is also closed due to landslides. Clearing operation along the road section was temporarily put on hold by adverse weather condition and unstable slope.

Meanwhile, the reactivated DPWH Quick Response Teams continue to monitor status of other national road sections in CAR and Region 2 that may be affected by Tropical Depression Gardo.
