Consistent with its effort to improve mobility and support agricultural production, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a new farm-to-market road (FMR) connecting two (2) barangays in Pangasinan.

In his report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary Eugenio R. Pipo, Jr, DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan said that the 3.4-kilometer FMR traversing Barangay Bakit-bakit in the Municipality of Rosales to Barangay San Miguel in Balungao is now being utilized by locals, especially farmers, in transporting corn and rice grains to the neighboring trading center.

Funded with P30-million under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the project involved concreting of road aimed to reduce travel time from 25 minutes to ten minutes, benefitting even the nearby municipalities of Rosales, Sta. Maria, and Umingan.

The DPWH Pangasinan Third District Engineering Office have also installed 42 units of solar LED lights along the newly-completed road.

“We are targeting to complete more road projects in Pangasinan this year to support the local government’s initiative of attracting more tourists and spurring economic growth,” added Director Tan.
