The completion of Canayun-Sirit-Dana-Ili Flood Control Project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) provides better protection for residents near river bank of Abulug River in Barangay Sirit, Abulug, Cagayan.

Citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 2 OIC Director Reynaldo C. Alconcel, Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the project primarily aims to protect the lives and properties of the nearby residents especially during typhoon and rainy season.

The project involves the construction of a 260-linear meter flood control facility including the fabrication of hexapod blocks which is vital in reducing threat of flooding along low-lying areas.

A total amount of P50-Million was allocated for the Canayun-Sirit-Dana Ili Flood Control Project, with funding sourced from the 2022 General Appropriations Act.

The project was implemented by DPWH-Cagayan Second District Engineering Office (CSDEO) under the leadership of OIC District Engineer Rellie S. Dalmaceda.
