The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the rehabilitation and improvement works along Cordon-Aurora Boundary Road also known as Junction Dumabato-Aurora Boundary Road in Nagtipunan, Quirino Province which will ensure the safety and convenience of the travelling public in time for Holy Week and summer season.

Based on the report of DPWH Regional Office 2 Director Reynaldo C. Alconcel to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, the completed repair covered four (4) sections of the road in Barangays Sangbay and Dissimungal, which are home to various tourism destinations in the province.

Road improvements implemented along the road include reconstruction of its 1.25-kilometer portion; asphalt overlay along 500-meter section; and installation of thermoplastic pavement markings.

The construction of slope protection on landslide-prone areas was made an integral part of the project since it can be recalled that in October 2022, a 91-meter portion of the road was closed to motorists due to soil collapse.

“Junction Dumabato-Aurora Boundary Road serves as an access road to Koronang Bato, Masug Falls, and Sangbay Picnic Area. Through this project, travelers may save at least 10 to 15 minutes in traversing the improved road section, thus providing them with a smoother and safer road facility,” Director Alconcel said.

The road rehabilitation project was implemented by DPWH Quirino District Engineering Office and was funded through under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2022 in the amount of P43.03 million.
