The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed its road widening project along Manila North Road in San Fernando City, La Union.
DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan reported to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary for Regional Operations Eugenio R. Pipo, Jr. that the project covers the improvement of off-carriageway, construction of drainage canals, and installation of solar street lights along the MNR’s 670-meter portion at the commercial area from Governor Ortega Street to Padre Burgos Street.
“The ₱24.5 Million road widening project is expected to enhance economic activity, reduce transport costs, and boost the city’s core business district,” said Director Tan.
“The road widening will mitigate traffic congestion and ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians.”, added Director Tan.
Solar LED street lights were also installed to provide adequate lighting and to reduce the occurrence of accidents in the area.
