Two (2) river dike projects with combined cost of P190 million were recently-constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to safeguard flood-prone barangays in Nabua, Camarines Sur.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 5 Director Virgilio C. Eduarte said that new levees were completed along sections of Barit River in Barangays Antipolo Young and San Jose.

“Revetment structures were built purposely for the preservation of lives and properties particularly those who dwell near the Barit River area. It will also prevent destruction in agricultural livelihood, bank collapse and harmful degradation of the riverbed, as well as closure of nearby roads,” said Director Eduarte.

The completed project in Barangay Antipolo Young and Barangay San Jose were completed in the amount of P93 million and P97 million respectively.
