Local communities now benefit from a farm-to-mill road project recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Isabela, Negros Occidental.
According to DPWH Region 6 Director Nerie D. Bueno, the completed 860-lineal meter road now benefits small farmers, allowing them to transport their crops such as corn, sugarcane, and peanuts to nearby markets and mills more efficiently and at a lesser cost.
Construction of the 2-lane concrete road is divided into three (3) segments, with the first segment measuring 360 lineal meters, the second segment measuring 450.5 lineal meters, and the final segment measuring 49.5 lineal meters.
“Aside from promoting economic growth in Barangay Panaquiao, the farm-to-mill road also provides accessibility by ensuring a safer and more convenient means of land transport,” said Director Bueno.
DPWH Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office implemented the project in the amount of P12.4 million.
