The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed two (2) road projects benefitting local communities in Calinog and Banate, Iloilo.

DPWH Iloilo 2nd District Engineering Office has finished the construction of a 675-meter portland cement concrete pavement road in Barangay Tibiao, Calinog.

Citing a report of District Engineer Allan Rey R. Pajimna, DPWH Region 6 Director Nerie D. Bueno said that the P12 million road project replaces the existing gravel road which was often impassable during rainy season, making it difficult for residents to access essential services such as healthcare, education, and markets.

The road project now ensures a more convenient transport from the national highway to the town proper and vice versa.

“Communities in Barangay Tibiao also anticipate a boost in their local economy as the paved FMR provides a better road network which allows quicker delivery of products to the market,” said Director Bueno.

Meanwhile, the construction of a 423-meter concrete road was completed in the municipality of Banate to enhance access to basic goods and services.

The P4.8 million concrete road now provides better accessibility for businesses to reach new customers and markets in the area, opening more economic opportunities for the residents of Barangay Libertad.

"DPWH will continue to deliver safe, efficient, and improved road networks that will promote progress and development for Ilonggos,” said Director Bueno.
