The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed improvement works along portions of Kabankalan-Bais Road in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
In Barangay Tagukon, construction works were done to widen an 880-lineal meter section of the Kabankalan-Bais Road from two (2) to four (4) lanes and to repair a 979-lineal meter section of the road with concrete pavement.
Both projects include provision of grouted riprap, reinforced concrete box culverts, stone masonry, and road markers as safety features.
According to DPWH Region 6 Director Nerie D. Bueno, the improvement of Kabankalan-Bais Road ensures better mobility, convenient travel experience, and cost-efficient delivery of agricultural and other local products.
“The improved road sections can now better cater to huge volumes of vehicles transporting agricultural and other local products while also providing a more comfortable and safer travel for motorists going to and from various cities and towns in southern Negros Occidental,” said Director Bueno.
The road widening and reconstruction projects were undertaken by DPWH Negros Occidental 3rd District Engineering Office in the amount of P29 million and P34.1 million, respectively.
