Farming communities now reap the benefits of the newly-concreted Barangay Situbo-Antonio-Penacio Road by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the municipality of Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte.
According to DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia, the 676.4-meter access road project benefits farmers of abaca, coconut, and rubber in Barangay Situbo.
The P22.5 million project involves concrete paving of the existing gravel road with installation of drainage and slope protection, and reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings for safety.
“With the roads now in better shape, residents and farmers can transport their agricultural products more effectively which will boost the local economy,” added Director Dia.
Zamboanga del Norte 1st District Engineering Office implemented the project through the Roads Leveraging Linkages of Industry and Trade Infrastructure (ROLL-IT) Program in convergence with the Department of Trade and Industry.
