6 Roads in Luzon, Mindanao Affected by Super Typhoon ‘Egay’

As of 6:00 AM Wednesday, July 26, 2023, Super Typhoon “Egay” has rendered two (2) road closures and four (4) highways with limited access in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Central Mindanao (Region XII) and Region IV-B.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has identified impassable roads as the Baguio-Bontoc Road, K0347+090 – K0347+180, Mt. Data, Bauko in Mt. Province to secure public safety; and Awang-Upi-Lebak-Kalamansig-Palimbang-Sarangani Road, K1995+450, Brgy. Kidayan, Palimbang in Sultan Kudarat due to damaged cross drainage and collapsed pavement.

Meanwhile, the following are roads with limited access in CAR and Region IV-B:
1. One lane passable to light vehicles:
• Abra-Ilocos Norte Road, K0422+898 – K0422+903, Cabaroan, Danglas, Abra, due
to collapsed pavement
• Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road, K0313+450 – K0313+470, Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet, due to soil collapse
• Banaue-Hungduan-Benguet Boundary Road, K0355+960 – K0355+985, Bokiawan, Hungduan; and K0380+500 – K0380+525, Abatan, Hungduan, Ifugao, due to soil collapse

2. Passable to heavy vehicles:
• Calapan South Road, K0182+278, Brgy. Campaasan, Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro, due to flooded road section

DPWH Quick-Response Teams are dispatched to expedite emergency repair works and carry-out clearing operations so that the affected roads may be reopened and ensure access for government relief efforts.
