
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is still clearing 25 roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Ilocos Region, and Cagayan Valley Region that were closed due to Super Typhoon “Egay”.
Per monitoring report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan by the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, the impassable roads are:
CORDILLERA ADMINISTRATIVE REGION:
ABRA
1) Abra-Ilocos Norte Road (intermittent sections) due to soil collapse and fallen trees;
2) Abra-Ilocos Sur Road (intermittent sections) due to soil collapse and fallen trees;
3) Abra-Kalinga Road (intermittent sections) due to soil collapse and fallen trees;
APAYAO
1) Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road in Madduang, Kabugao due to soil erosion;
2) Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road, K0663+900 - K0663+940 Eva section and intermittent sections in Naguilian, Calanasan due to roadcut and soil collapse;
3) Apayao (Calanasan) - Ilocos Norte Road, intermittent sections in Tanglagan, Calanasan, Apayao due to soil collapse;
BENGUET
1) Kennon Road, Camp 6, Tuba, due to soil collapse and rock fall;
2) Shilan-Beckel Road, Shilan, La Trinidad, due to soil erosion;
3) Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road, Upper Bakong and Sitio Sabkil sections in Loacan, Itogon due to mud slide, soil collapse and fallen trees;
4) Baguio-Bontoc Road, intermittent sections in Abiang, Atok due to soil collapse;
5) Abatan-Mankayan-Cervantes Road, Guinaoang, Mankayan, due to soil collapse;
6) Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road (intermittent sections) in Bakun due to soil collapse;
MT. PROVINCE
1) Baguio-Bontoc Road, Mt. Data, Bauko section; Gonogon, Bontoc section due to soil collapse;
2) Mt. Province-Ilocos Sur via Tue Road, intermittent sections in Balaoa and Cabunagan, Tadian due to soil erosion;
3) Mt. Province-Cagayan via Tabuk-Enrile Road, Tigil Section, Betwagan, Sadanga and Pakkil, Bontoc section due to soil erosion;
REGION I:
ILOCOS NORTE
1) Laoag-Sarrat-Piddig-Solsona (intermittent sections) due to flooding;
2) Manila North Road, Sitio Banquero, Brgy. Pancian, Pagudpud and K0472+300 - K0473+100 due to flooding;
ILOCOS SUR
1) Tagudin-Cervantes Road, (intermittent sections) due to soil erosion and flooding;
2) Cervantes-Aluling-Bontoc Road K0387+000 due to soil erosion;
3) Cervantes-Mankayan-Abatan Road K0391+200 due to soil erosion;
4) Mt. Province-Ilocos Sur via Kayan Road (intermittent sections), due to soil erosion;
5) Jct. Santiago-Banayoyo-Lidlidda-San Emilio, due to high water elevation;
REGION II:
CAGAYAN
1) Manila North Road, Calog Sur, Abulug due to high water elevation; and
2) Cagayan-Apayao Road, Itawes Bridge, Tuao, Cagayan, due to high water elevation.
Meanwhile, five (5) road sections in CAR, Region I, Region III, and Region IV-B have limited access due to flooding and collapsed pavement namely:
1) Abra-Ilocos Norte Road, Cabaroan, Danglas, one lane passable to light vehicles due to collapsed pavement;
2) Banaue - Hunduan - Benguet Boundary Road sections in Bokiawan and Abatan, Hungduan, Ifugao one lane passable to light vehicles due to soil collapse;
3) Luna - Bangar Road, K0306+000- K0307+000 in La Union due to flooding;
4) Apalit-Macabebe-Masantol Road, Brgy. San Gabriel, Macabebe, due to flooding; and
5) Calapan South Road, Brgy. Campaasan, Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro, which is passable only to heavy vehicles due to flooding.
DPWH manpower and equipment continue to clear affected road sections. The DPWH Quick Response Teams have so far cleared and reopened a total of nine (9) road sections.
To date, the estimated partial cost of damage to infrastructure by Super Typhoon Egay is now at P1.54 Billion with breakdown: ₱419.6 million to roads, ₱30 million to bridges, ₱1.07 Billion to flood-control structures, and ₱20 million to other national government-owned buildings.
