
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is still working on reopening a total of 17 road sections in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Regions 1, 3, and 6 that were rendered impassable due to combined effects of southwest monsoon and typhoon Egay.
Based on the 12:00 noon, July 31, 2023 situational report of the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, although 43 roads have been cleared and reopened, incessant rainfall has led to more flooding especially in parts of Central Luzon.
The following road sections remain impassable:
CAR
ABRA
1) Abra-Ilocos Norte Road (intermittent sections) due to soil collapse and fallen trees;
2) Abra-Kalinga Road (intermittent sections) due to soil collapse and fallen trees;
APAYAO
1) Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road, intermitent sections in Dibagat, Kabugao due to soil collapse;
2) Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road, intermittent sections in Eva, Naguilian, Ferdinand, and Namaltugan, and Ninoy, Calanasan due to soil collapse; including Sugoc Bridge in Ninoy due to washed out bridge approach;
3) Apayao - Ilocos Norte Road, intermittent sections in Namaltugan, Butao, and Tubungan, in Calanasan due to soil collapse;
KALINGA
1) Mt. Province - Calanan - Pinukpuk - Abbut Road in Katabbogan, Pinukpuk de to soil collapse;
MT. PROVINCE
1) Baguio – Bontoc Road, Mt. Data section in Bauko to ensure safety of the public;
2) Dantay - Sagada Road, K0390+900 due to collapsed pavement;
3) Sagada - Besao - Quirino – Ilocos Sur Road, Banguitan section in Besao due to soil collapse;
REGION 1
ILOCOS SUR
1) Vigan-Sta. Catalina Road, Pantay-Daya Bridge due to scoured bridge abutment;
2) Quirino-Pandan Road, Quirino-Pandan Bridge due to scoured bridge abutment;
REGION III
PAMPANGA
1) Candaba - San Miguel Road in Brgy. Paralaya, Candaba due to flooding;
2) Baliwag - Candaba - Sta Ana Road in Brgy. San Agustin, Candaba due to flooding;
3) Apalit-Macabebe-Masantol Road (intermittent sections) in Brgy San Gabriel, Macabebe, Pampanga due to flooding;
4) Bahay Pare - San Luis - Sto. Domingo Road, sections in Brgy. Sta. Monica and San Isidro, San Luis town due to flooding;
ZAMBALES
1) Olangapo-Bugallon Road, Yamot Bridge, Detour, Yamot, Candelaria due to High water elevation; and
REGION VI
ILOILO
1) Iloilo-Antique Road in Brgy. Quianan, San Joaquin, Iloilo due to landslide.
The following roads also have limited access due to soil collapse, road slip, damaged road slope protection, rockslide, and flooding:
1) Mt. Province -Ilocos Sur via Tue Road in Poblacion, Bauko, Mt. Province, one lane passable to light vehicles only due to soil collapse;
2) Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road in Poblacion,
Kibungan, Benguet, one lane passable to light vehicles only due to soil collapse;
3) Banaue - Hunduan - Benguet Boundary Road, sections in Abatan and Bokiawan, Hungduan, Ifugao one lane passable to light vehicles only due to soil collapse;
4) Pancian-Adams Road, sections in Brgy. Poblacion and Sitio Maligligay, Adams, Ilocos Norte and Sitio Banquero, Pancian, Ilocos Norte, one Lane passable to light vehicles only damaged road slope protection;
5) Cervantes - Aluling- Bontoc Road (S00105LZ) K0387+000, Ilocos Sur, one lane passable to light vehicles only due to rockslide;
6) Dagupan City National Road, Pangasinan, passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding;
7) Judge De Venecia Sr. Avenue in Brgy. Banaoang, Clasiao, Pangasinan, passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding;
8) San Carlos- Calasiao Road in Brgy. Mancup, Clasiao, Pangasinan, passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding;
9) Manila North Road, sections in Wakas, Bocaue, Bulacan; Pobalacion, Balagtas (Bigaa); Brgy. Wakas and Poblacion, Guiguinto, Bulacan; and in Makinabang, Baliuag, Bulacan, passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding; and
10) Sto. Tomas - Minalin Road in Brgy. Sta Rita, Minalin , Pampanga, passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding.
Estimated cost of damage to infrastructure is now at P5.198 Billion with P1.053 Billion to roads, P162.600 Million to bridges, and P3.982 Billion to flood-control structures.
