=The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has commenced the construction of Bayombong-Quezon-Bagabag Diversion Road which is expected to facilitate better mobility in Nueva Vizcaya’s rural areas, particularly the towns of Bayombong and Bagabag.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional 2 Director Reynaldo C. Alconcel, said that the diversion road project will be a 3.52-kilometer, 2-lane road that will serve as crucial alternative route for vehicles traveling between Bambang and Bayombong, offering relief from traffic congestion along the existing main highway.
“The construction of this road will not only divert traffic along Maharlika Highway but also serve as a quick and safe way around it. The project will also greatly benefit the livelihood of residents along the traversed areas,” said Secretary Bonoan.
DPWH allocated a total of P84.3 million for the construction of the new diversion road.
Implemented by DPWH Regional Office II, the project started civil works in May 2023 and is currently 12.72 percent accomplished. The road is targeted for completion before the end of the year.
