The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in convergence with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has completed the concrete paving of three (3) access roads to support agricultural communities in the municipality of Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay.
DPWH Zamboanga Sibugay 2nd District Engineering Office implemented the concrete paving of local roads at Barangay Mirangan to Barangay Balucanan stretching 484 meters; Barangay Coloran to Barangay Paruk spanning 455 meters; and Barangay Dacanay to Barangay Sumama, with a length of 367 meters.
According to DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia, the upgraded two (2)-lane roads now enable more convenient transportation of goods and farm produce to bigger markets, benefiting the calamansi, coconut, and rubber industries in Siay.
“With the completion of these projects, local communities can also expect more livelihood opportunities, boosting the economic growth of the province,” said Director Dia.
The road concreting projects were undertaken in the amounts of P13 million, P12.5 million, and P10 million through the Roads Leveraging Linkages of Industry and Trade (ROLL-IT) Program with the DTI.
