The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a 1.33-lineal-kilometer flood control structure to protect Barangay Salay, Dipaculao, Aurora against inundation.
DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, in his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary for Operations in Central Luzon Roberto R. Bernardo, said that the flood control structure along Salay Creek will effectively safeguards the surrounding residential areas and agricultural lands from water overflow during heavy rains.
The construction of concrete slope protection on both banks along Salay Creek, measuring 661 lineal meters each was implemented by DPWH Aurora District Engineering Office (DEO).
Essential components of the project are box culvert reinforced by retaining walls that acts as a bridge for passing vehicles, bank and slope protection works featuring stone masonry, gabions, and pipe culverts.
The flood control structure has a total project cost of P34.3 million funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
