The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed its P144.75-million bridge upgrading project that has improved traffic flow along a portion of Daang Maharlika in Barangay Agos, Polangui, Albay.

Citing a report from the DPWH Regional Office Director Virgilio C. Eduarte and DPWH Albay 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) District Engineer Cornelio J. Relativo, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that completion of the four-lane Agos Bridge facilitates seamless connection, as it complements to the road expansion of main highways in the region.

“We are glad that motorists are expressing their appreciation of the project, recognizing the significance of the bridge in alleviating traffic congestion in the area,” said District Engineer Relativo.

“Prior to the widening, those coming from a four-lane Daang Maharlika would need to merge when crossing Agos Bridge, causing bottleneck at the bridge approaches,” added District Engineer Relativo.

Started in August 2020, the Agos Bridge Bridge Widening Project also covers widening of approaches, sidewalk construction, asphalt overlay of all four (4) lanes, road markings, and installation of street lights.
