Improved local roads by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now enable better connectivity and safer mobility to far-flung areas in Isabela, Negros Occidental.
Costing P8.8 million, the project in Barangay Mansablay involves the construction of a 1.24-kilometer, 2-lane concrete road in Sitio Osvalfina with reconstruction of 571-lineal meter shoulders on both sides and slope protection structures in selected areas.
Meanwhile, the project in Barangay Camangcamang covers the construction of an 852-lineal meter, 2-lane concrete road from spillway to bridge and reconstruction of 426-lineal meter concrete shoulders on both sides, costing P6.8 million.
According to DPWH Regional Office 6 OIC-Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel, the paved roads now boost agricultural activities in these areas by making travel and transportation of goods from farms to markets.
The concrete paving of two (2) road sections in barangays Mansablay and Camangcamang were implemented by DPWH Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office.
“The upgraded roads will increase the asset value of rural communities, facilitating local trade and business opportunities that could help them achieve economic stability,” said OIC-Director Oropel.
