The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has undertaken preventive maintenance works along Zamboanga West Coastal Road in the municipality of Sibuco, Zamboanga Del Norte.
In her report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia said that asphalt overlay of the 888-linear meter Limpapa-Sibuco section of the coastal road passing Barangay Nala is now completed.
According to Director Dia, the asphalt overlay as a preventive measure will prolong the service life of the road, making travel safer and more comfortable for motorists, as well as offering improved access to various establishments and government services in the area.
Besides asphalt overlay, other activities on the project include construction of bituminous concrete surface course, reblocking of existing damaged concrete pavement, aggregate subbase course (for pavement shoulder), with provision of solar LED lights for better road visibility.
DPWH Zamboanga Del Norte 4th District Engineering Office implemented the project in the amount of P19 million under the 2023 General Appropriations Act.
