The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of an access road leading to an eco-tourism site in Barangay Salogon, Brooke’s Point, Palawan.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, Region IV-B Director Gerald Pacanan said that the newly constructed access road in the agri-tourism community of Sitio Tagpinasao is attracting more visitors while providing easier transport of local farm produce and fostering a stronger sense of community and shared prosperity in the area.

The 3.6-kilometer, 2-lane access road also includes provisions of drainage which protect the local ecosystems and prevent soil erosion by effectively managing water run-off, ensuring a sustainable balance between development and environmental conservation.

Funded in the amount of P34.8 Million under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the completed project is poised to unlock the area's tourism potential by providing better access to eco-tourism sites like Brooke’s Point Ecological Park.

“This completed project is a substantial step towards Palawan's economic and tourism development. As the communities reap the benefits of more access roads, DPWH MIMAROPA remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering sustainable development all over the region,” added RD Pacanan.

The project was implemented by DPWH Palawan 2nd District Engineering Office under the leadership of District Engineer Noel L. Fuentebella
