The slope protection structure with road widening along Sapang Matwa Creek completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has improved the safety and accessibility of transportation at Sitio Dampalit in Barangay Sta. Monica, Lubao, Pampanga.
The P17.8 million project involved the construction of a 153.88-meter concrete slope protection using structural steel sheet piles, concrete pile caps, wheel guards, and portland cement concrete pavement.
In his report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, DPWH Pampanga 2nd District Engineer Gregorio Audea, Jr. said that the completion of the project provides protection to the communities near the creek against flooding and facilitate better movement of people, goods, and services in Lubao.
“The safety upgrades are specifically designed to protect motorists from potential accidents near the creek and will benefit road users,” District Engineer Audea added.
The recently completed slope protection structure in Barangay Sta. Monica was funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2023.
